The Centre for Business Ethics Studies of SASS was created in 1999，one of the first organizations for business ethics studies, and aims at promoting the studies on and applications of business ethics in China. The fellowers of the Center are invited from the fields of philosophy, economics, law, sociology, as well as from business world, media and organs of local government in Shanghai. The Center also has invited many well-known professors of business ethics from the other cities and provinces in China, such as Beijing, Jiangsu, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Hunan, Henan, Hong Kong, and some famous experts on business ethics from abroad as guest professors. Since the establishment of the Center, it held many conferences includes “The International Conference on Developing Business Ethics in China” in May of 2002; the International Conference on “Freedoms and Responsibilities for Business in China -- Governments, Corporations and Civil Society Organizations” in September of 2006 and “Capital, Credit, and Responsibility in Crisis-- What Concepts, Systems, and Ethics Are Needed for Future Wealth Creation” in October of 2011. It created “International Forum Series on Business Ethics” for exchanges and dialogues on business ethics between domestic and international scholars and business people in 2003, and held ten sessions of the Forum since then. The Center also edited and published the following books: Developing Business Ethics in China (edited by Xiaohe Lu & Georges Enderle,2003; its English version by Palgrave Macmillan in 2006), Business Ethics, Corporate Governance and a Harmonious Society (edited by Xiaohe Lu & Daryl Koehn, 2005), Freedoms and Responsibilities for Business in China: Governments, Corporations and Civil Society Organizations (edited by Xiaohe Lu & Deon Rossouw,2007 ), and the three book series: New Studies Series on Business Ethics(2002), Contemporary Translation Book Series on Business Ethics(2001-2002), and New Translation Book series on Business Ethics (2006-2008).The Current Director of the Center is Xiaohe Lu, Professor at the Institute of Philosophy of SASS.
